Crazy Mary is again in the studio, recording our latest CD,
NUCLEAR LIPSTICK, which features the latest additions to our band. We are proud to announce that WALTER STEDING, on violin, is now a permanent member, and that our lead singer is now none other than EM Z.
08-10-2005Crazy Mary appears in in new documentary directed by Edo Bertoglio (Downtown 81) called FACE ADDICTS which just premiered at The Locarno International Film Festival. It's a film about the New York downtown scene and some of its main characters, whose legacy remains to today. The filmmaker, himself part of this downtown scene, which started in the late 1970s, brings back to life the era’s fantastic and unique atmosphere, when life and art were all mixed up with each other. A time which has not only left its traces on its participants but on today’s art and culture. Contributors include musician Debbie Harry of Blondie, Victor Bockris, the writer and biographer of Andy Warhol, and Glenn O’Brien, writer and poet. The film is about a group of different people and their common memories, as well as about their lives today. One of those people is Walter Steding who can be seen playing fiddle with Crazy Mary in the film.
07-12-2005CRAZY MARY has been selected to play in the 2005 CMJ Music Marathon, Sept 14-17 in NYC. Looks like we'll be busy in September doing the festival circuit.
05-28-2005CRAZY MARY has been selected to showcase at the MIDPOINT MUSIC FESTIVAL in Cincinnati, September 21-24. This is a prestigious festival for Indie artists and is expected to draw 50,000 spectators this year.
04-27-2005A documentary of TV Party, a cable TV show from the late 70's and early 80's featuring Chris Stein, Glenn O'Brien and our own Walter Steding and his orchestra, premiered at The Tribeca Film Festival. Paper Magazine threw a party and Walter provided the band which featured himself and Armand from Crazy Mary along with Debbie Harry, Chris Stein, Robert Aaron, Lenny Ferrari, and James Chance.
03-09-2005Charles and Armand joined Walter Steding to provide the background music for the opening of BACK TO THE BOWERY, a collection of photographs and art from the late 70's punk and new wave scene. The exhibit was at CBGB's 313 Gallery. Many luminaries of the period were in attendance.
10-25-2004New *.mp3s from our latest CD, THIRSTY FOR COOL, have been added to our 'Listen to Music' page.
08-01-2004Once again, The New York Horns have added their special flavor to the Crazy Mary Sound. When I hear their three part harmony I almost cry.
07-11-2004July 11th
Crazy Mary was in Coyote Studios recording two new songs and adding vocals to others for their upcoming release, "Thirsty for Cool"
05-30-2004Longtime vocalist Sophia Jackson decided to leave the band so she could concentrate on her studies. After an exhausting audition process, we were immediately struck with the voice of KRISTIN SMITH.
As talented as she is beautiful, Kristin's powerful and versatile voice is a welcome addition to the band.
